Those in Westminster understand the game David Cameron is trying to play.

POLITICSHOME'S INSIDER panel is a valuable resource. It asks for opinions on subjects from MPs, commentators and other non-aligned, in-the-know figures and then publishes the results. Particpants are giving anonyimity, giving the whole thing a good degree of credibility.

Its latest result shows that 74% of people on the panel agree that David Cameron would rather the Lisbon Treaty is ratified by the time he comes to office. In essence this means Dave will secretly be hoping the Irish vote yes to the Lisbon Treaty second time round.

Interestingly it is reported that those who were on the left or were non-aligned took this view almost unanimously. This group will of course include those who accuse anyone who shows resistance to the European Union's anti-democratic nature to be "europhobic" or "anti-European". Clearly they don't think Cameron is going to cause too many problems. If Cameron becomes Prime Minister, the public - along with the Tories' staunch eurosceptic backbencher set - will find out just how europhile Cameron is, very quickly.

You heard it here first: expect a Maastricht-like rebellion under Prime Minister Cameron that leads to headline Tory defections to UKIP.
